On September 14, 2005 I used a Meade LX200 10 inch telescope and a Meade LPI with an Ir-cut filter.
Equipment & Processing
A few months before its opposition, the apparent phase of Mars is visible. On the North Polar Cap of the planet, you can see altitude mist which appears in blue. Note the presence of Syrtis Major and the South Polar Cap (not easy to see).
